Educational Program

Our core goal is to train and prepare today’s youth who have limited skills, to make them employable and self-sufficient for the 21st century challenges.

Launching Education to Employment:

India has a vast population of 1.2 billion, half of them younger than 25 years old. It faces the immense challenge of training this generation or it will face the prospect of millions of unemployed youth in the future.

As part of our global mission we launched our first project in Gujarat, India in November 2017. Our first vocational education awareness seminar was conducted by professional educators in one of the high schools in Ahmedabad, India. Trained counselors were able to assess students in order to identify their potential and guide them in the appropriate training area. The technical vocational training program featured classroom training and job placement programs designed to create a linkage between classroom training and the real world.

GKHET is proud to have partnered with SHWAS foundation.

“The only difference between the under privileged and privileged – is the availability of resources and opportunities and our sole purpose lies in bridging that gap.”

Our joint core focuses are:

Identifying a community and making parents realize the importance of educating their children.
Renting infrastructure, nearby the communities’ dwellings, to provide skills training and education to the children.
Resourcing full time educators to provide education, keeping in mind the ration of 1 to 5/6 students.
Strengthening academic fundamentals, awareness about hygiene, nutrition and skills developments.
Vocational training.

Under this program we have adopted a school in the slums of Ahmedabad for tutoring, after school programs including Education, culture, sports and free daily dinner for all the students in the center. We are also teaching students about overall growth and personal hygiene. Our newest program is learning music at the art center, where children can record their own songs to make their own music albums. Other favorite classes are yoga, storytelling and drama. The toughest challenge is to convince kids to come for after school programs so often we have to give them incentives to come to the center.

Apna Ghar is a very unique ashram in Ahmedabad which takes care of the helplessly destitute sick people. A lot of patients are suffering from cancer there.

SHWAS kids (who are learning music and can sing well) were invited there to be a part of their music therapy session.

The sessions are conducted every once in a while, for their speedy recovery.

They are also learning the art of giving back.

SUCCESS STORY:

GKHET has successfully sponsored two girls from our Ramdevnagar Center to now be in private school to continue their education.
